The biggest middle school transfer of the season thus far is Dresean Looney. You know Looney right? The 8th grader who some consider the best 8th grader in the city. The next Andre Allen. I thought you may have heard of him. Whatever you think of Looney, he got major game. If he gets that jumper going, he's almost unstoppable on the middle school level. If he get's going to the rim because of his body, not many can contain him. He's quick and hit you with the crossover to make you wonder what happened to the player who was just standing in front of him. Looney's scoring ability is better than most but because he's only about 5'8 right now, he may have to get ready to play the point next year. He must lead his new team because the talent level is not the same as Southwind's even though Woodale does have a little more size than Southwind. He has to realize this and learn his new teammates tendencies. If he can adjust and make his team go than they could make some moves on American Way but if he becomes agitated by his new teams errors, their season may not be the one that he is expecting.
American Way Looks Impressive
The Middle School season is here and Saturay the Middle School jamboree was held in front of a crowed Hickory Ridge Middle School gym. Some teams impressed but none like American Way's boys basketball team. They have size with 8th grader Lorenzo Young and 7th grader Joseph Williams who is 6'2, one of the best wings in Middle School in Jajuan Johnson, who doesn't get the respect he deserves and nice guard play with Larry Cox, twins Broderick and Toderick Davis,Nick Smith and 6th grader Jeremiah Martin who played as well as any of their guards. Fans take notice, American Way will be one of the best middle school teams in the city.

Terrance "TMAN" Durham - Craigmont (PG) A lot of times, I like to talk about how much I like Madracus Wade and Greg Wooten and the many other point guard prospects out of Memphis but there is one point guard that should be talked about as one of the best not only in the city but the state and that Terrance Durham. The Craigmont junior is a burst of speed in the open court able to use his vision to see a play before it develops or score with either hand when at the rim. His basketball IQ is above most point guards and his decision making is up there with anyone that I've seen in Memphis. He's aggressive and not afraid of contact but he needs to improve his jumper from beyond 15 feet to make people fear the drive or the pull up. If he plays like he's capable of playing, he makes Craigmont for real and a threat to Raleigh Egypt in 14AAA. He's definitely a D-1 caliber player.
Middle School Player To Watch
Josh Jones - 5'9 - John P. Freeman (2013) - Judging by what I saw, Friday, Jones maybe top 10 worthy if not top 5. He's a smooth shooter who reminds a little of former Whitehaven and Central Florida star Josh Peppers. He's long and plays with a calmness and attitude of a player much older. He never gets rattled and can score off the drive or the long ball. The only thing that I would like for Jones to do is play a little more aggressive and if he does, he could be the best 2 guard in this class. I will not say what high school his father said he's going to but expect to see him in South Memphis next year.
