MEMPHIS HIGH SCHOOL 2007-2008 TEAM PREVIEW
The key to their success is the play of ultra-talented Jason Jones. The 6'5 shooting guard is one the best scorers not only in Memphis but the state. Miners of Utep must be smiling from ear to ear with Jones signing there early. Look for him to be very aggressive this year and improve on his 18 per game average last year. Another transfer, Chris Downey should handle the point guard responsibilites. Downey's the classic pass first point guard who will run Ridgeway's offense like a leader should. Getting 8-10 points from him would be just an added bonus. They could also turn to Dominique Shellman if Downey struggles but he's really more of a 2 guard in a point guards body. Big man Cordario Macklin has a lot of upside. He has a chance to really be a good player with his size and rebounding ability. Once he gets that mean streak inside him, he will be a force.  Their bench must also provide relief when the starters need a rest. Sophmore Marterrence Brock, who may start a lot of games is on the verge of becoming a nice player but he may need to watch his shot selection at times. Chris Crockett is a big body who will come and give you a physical presence. Chris Brewer is sleeper type guard who should get a lot minutes. Brewer could dominate the defensive side of the ball with his long arms. Tarik Black could be the best of the reserves. The 6'7 Forward/Center is a go to move and like Macklin a little toughness away from being a Division 1 caliber player. In this wide open year in Triple A, the Roadrunners could go back to Mufreesboro. They have a very talented team with what a lot coaches love, size. If Coach Henning can get his bunch to play together and avoid individualism, you could see the Roadrunners packing their bags going East in March

Ridgeway Team Preview
For most teams losing a player of Martino Brock's caliber would hurt tremendously but not quite at Ridgeway. Transfer Sampson Carter maybe just as good if not better than the MLK tournament Mvp. The 6'7 forward is free finally of questions surrounding his elgibility and now turns his sights on making some noise in 15-AAA. Carter has the handle of a guard and the shooting ability of a 2 guard and at his height he can hurt you on the boards as well. He may have to get adjusted to Ridgeway offense but once he does, he'll average right around 15-20 points per game.
