MEMPHIS TOP 10
.Raleigh Egypt High School (26-2) Top spot once again belongs to the Pharaohs and now they are on their way to the city championship game against Melrose. A lot of people are not giving Raleigh a chance in this game but if they can take care of the ball against the Golden Wildcats, don’t be surprised to see them win.
.White Station High School (23-6) Missing out on the city championship game should add fuel to the fire entering the district tourney at Southwind for the Spartans. I think Andre Hollins has to be the second option for scoring for Coach Patino and in some instances the first option if the Spartans are to get back to Murfreesboro.
.Melrose High School (22-2) Had a huge loss to East the other night but did have some players not play including Tromarcus Toney and Quentin Lowe but that shouldn’t be an excuse for a team playing in the city championship Thursday. This loss could haunt them and it better not if they want to beat Raleigh Egypt.
.Craigmont High School (23-4) The Chiefs are a very dangerous team, very dangerous and they could win the district tournament. Akeem Anderson is rebounding at a nice clip but if he could give them a consistent 15 point with the 10-15 rebounds, he would make them a threat to make it to the state tournament.
.Ridgeway High School (23-4) Win and win, that’s all that Coach Henning does. The Roadrunners will be hard to beat because of their great size in the front court with 6’7, 6’8, 6’6 and 6’5 at their disposal during the postseason. I think a key to their success has to be Cordario Macklin. If he’s playing well, the Roadrunners will be fine. Don’t be surprised to see them vying for a spot in the state
.Central High School (21-4) The Warriors are looking that that team that everyone thought they would be, scary. The new more aggressive Tim Peete is looking like one of top 3 players in District 16AAA. Is there a more talented 4 man in the city than Tyler Stone?
.Manassas High School High School (18-2) Trust me, it was hard to put them here after they finished the regular season 18-2 beating Fayette Academy last Friday on homecoming night. Joe Northington will become a key figure in their success if they want to get back to the state but it all starts with Reggie Buckner.
.Booker T. Washington High School (20-2) Avenged an earlier loss to Hillcrest, 90-77 and now they get another prize, a chance to play them again at White Station Thursday.
.Evangelical Christian School (22-6) Don’t look now but Coach Tippett’s squad has a chance to get to the state. Who would have thought!!!
.Southwind High School (20-7) Coach Edwards has done a great job this season with the Jaguars but it’s not over yet and he’s looking to do a little damage with the district tournament being played at his school. Montez Phifer is one of the most underrated players in the city. He’s just as important as any other player for Southwind. Look for to garner D-1 attention during the summer and next season.
