Hamilton got out to a 10-7 lead thanks to a great pass from New Mexico signee Nathen Garth to Cameron Clear. Quick trigger senior Don Woods knocked down a 3 soon after giving Coach Lawson confirmation about what he had heard about the shooter. Yo-Yo Gai made a nice move in the post to make the score 20-16 with 1:00 remaining in the 1st quarter with McGavock leading. Hamilton leading scorer Denario Robertson got involved in the second quarter including a nice pass to Tony Driver for a lay up and hitting a 3 as Hamilton looked to take some control. Woods as he did all night, kept his team around when he scored on lay up himself and ended the 1st half on a tie score, 36-36. Hamilton’s defense began to show itself as they forced McGavock into several turnovers in the 4th quarter. Shaun Thompson of Hamilton scored on a finger roll for a 1 point Hamilton lead with 5:30 left in the quarter. Once again, Woods would be there for his team with a jumper that puts McGavock back up 58-56. In a somewhat weird sequence, the Bulldogs stole the ball from the Wildcats but just as they were about to get the 2 on a open lay up, the coach called a timeout making the Bulldogs wonder why. They would get fouled following the timeout but only make 1 of two free throws. Garth would be fouled with 18 seconds left in the game and be sent to the line. The 6’1 senior would make 1 and send the game into overtime, 66-66 after a mad scramble ending to 4th.
Wildcats Show Fight In Win

After dropping their last 4 including a 20 point loss to Melrose and an ugly one to East, things would not get any easier as they took on McGavock from Nashville TN in the 1st annual Army Strong Classic at the H.T.Cash Arena.
