Cheifs Roll In Season Opener

The rain outside didn't damper the Craigmont's players or their fans excitement as they began their 2007-2008 season in impressive fashion at Sherwood Middle.
8th grader Robert "Man Among Boys" Houston (pictured left) got things started for the Chiefs with a short jumper from the corner to get the early lead but the much smaller Sherwood, would not go away as they fought hard to keep the scored tied 9-9 at the end of the 1st quarter. Cameron Golden came out firing in the 2nd quarter with a quick 3 as the Craigmont started to impose their will against gritty but overmatched Sherwood. Brandon Boyd's layup at the end of the half made it 29-18 but that was as close as they would get. Great team defense and Houston's play, who at one time scored 8 straight points were to much for Sherwood as they cruised in their season opener,64-36. Houston led the Chiefs in scoring with 17 while Cameron Golden and Calvin Chambers chipped in with 11 points a piece. Sherwood was led by Javontae Hampton with 11 and Boyd's 10.
Some of the areas other teams should beware if the talented Chiefs are on their schedule because they are for real.
