901 vs The SIP All Star Game: Not quite the way we wanted. (Video Highlight)
by Chris Burns (guest columnist)
The game was incredible, the highlights insane and the overtime...legendary. Charles Lawson scout and founder of 901prepscoop.com organized the first annual Network battle that pitted The SIP against some of 901's top unsigned seniors. After a delay in waiting for referees the game started slowly and began to take shape by the end of the first half.  The rosters (will be listed on the video page) were generated from coverage by all of the scouts of the Network and took a lot of work to pull off, but it ended up being a fantastic spectacle. The first half was vintage All Star Game, turnovers and it took a moment for the teams to adjust.  But once the game began the stars began to shine.
Justin Trezevant (unsigned) Kirby H.S. scores from deep.
On the Memphis squad (Mississippi Coverage can be found here) Big man Jalando Johnson Overton (unsigned senior) H.S. 6-6.5 stood out as a force in the paint.  His ability to catch the ball and finish or use either hand with his back to the basket was very good.  But it was lightning quick PG Justin Trezevant Kirby H.S. (unsigned senior) who stole the show with fantastic ball handling. During one stretch 6-4 SG Donteeno Todd Bolton H.S. (unsigned senior) showed his range by nailing three point shots from both sides of the floor to keep the game out of reach for the Memphis squad.  The Mississippi crew responded with buckets of their own. But utility man and the defensive player of the game Michael Frazier 6-3 Whitehaven H.S. made several plays before being substituted in platoon subs which came at an inopportune time.

Memphis needed offense badly and the squad was playing well together when the sub came.  The unit that subbed in did not perform poorly but they found themselves adjusting to the speed while The SIP took advantage of stiff legs.  But once the guys came to life they made a big push to come back and take a one point lead on the strength of 6-6 Mikel Tarrance Kingsbury H.S. and 6-4 banger Curtis Lee Kirby H.S.
Jalando Johnson 6-6.5 F dunked and played his way into recognition
PG Kenneth Jackson BTW tries to blow by James Archie of Ridgeland H.S.
In what could be called a stunner the Memphis crew fell a bit short at the end of the game as Curtis Lee had an opportunity to tie it with 3 free throws at the end of overtime.
Players who rounded out the roster for the Memphis squad where:
Edwin Dorsey Oakhaven H.S. PG: Did not have a great game but is possibly headed to prep school. (unsigned senior) 6-0
Kenneth Jackson BTW PG: Incredibly explosive PG with a strong handle and probably a 35 plus inch vertical leap showed flashes of brilliance as a combo. (unsigned senior) 5-11
DeMarius Foy Oakhaven SG: A true SG who did not get a lot of touches but has a savvy that reminds me of current Indiana State guard Maurico Stinson. (unsigned senior) 6-2
Steve Kerr Millington H.S. signed to powerhouse Mineral Area CC.

Best Offensive Player for 901: Justin Trezevant a very strong PG with a head for the game.
Defensive player of the game for 901: Mike Frazier
Most Outstanding Player for 901: Jalando Johnson
