MASE Falls Short In State Opener

Sharing is caring!

Marcus Moody (Head Coach-MASE)

Down 11 to start the 3rd quarter, MASE rallied after back to back turnovers by Monterey and using a 7-0 run to go up 1 point, 43-42 with 2:31 left in the game. Arecko Gipson scored on a put back to put his team back up after 2 made free throws with 1:52 left but that would be the last time that Phoenix would lead in the game. Monterey would hit a huge 3 on the next possession to go up 2 and later on go up 4 after a turnover by MASE to go up 4, Douglas didn’t go quietly though and hit a 3 with 4 seconds and got a huge break when Monterey turned the ball over with 2.6 left on the inbound giving them another opportunity. Mhylan Davis who led all scorers with  21 points in the game got a look but it fell short and a great season for Coach Marcus Moody and his team came to and end. Congratulations to Reco Gibson on his Mr.Basketball nomination and to the Phoenix again on a remarkable season. I have a feeling you could see them back in the coming years.
