If you haven’t been paying attention, Briarcrest Christian forward Cedric Henderson Jr has quietly been playing very well. With a class that features Alex Lomax and Tyler Harris and some other bigger names, Henderson Jr has flown a little under the radar this year. He was big in their upset over at the time # 1 Whitehaven with 26 points and has turned out some other great performances. At 6’6, Henderson has the one of the best pull up games in the city from mid range, hits the glass and is attacking more than I’ve seen him before making him a threat to score on all 3 levels. With his length, he could become a defensive standout like his father, former NBA player Cedric Henderson on the college level where he will be able to guard the 2-3 position and as he gets bigger physically, some 4 men as well. He plays within himself, never forces the issues and is a very heady player who will keep getting better the more he matures. I think he’s one of the top 5 unsigned seniors in the city right now and I think his stock has risen some since the season began making him more attractive as a prospect to colleges looking for skilled wing forwards. Expect for the Saints to be in the thick of it once playoffs hit with a possible looming match-up against Brentwood Academy later on down the line. For them, Henderson has been good but he will have to take to another level late and if he does that, his chances of playing Division 1 basketball next year dramatically increase.
