District Analysis
The Central Warriors are the favorite right now but they will have challenges. Tim Peete is one the best guards in town along with teammate Masceo Harmon. The Warriors are talented with the very skilled big man Tyler Stone, the sneaky scoring Sam Hill and 6'2 sophmore shooter Jermaine Hollimon. In order to really call themselves elite, they must get help from the bench in particular, Ernest Hollimon who scored 20 points in a win over Hamilton last week. A few teams could step up to the plate and challenge them but maybe not the teams that have been regulars in years past. Whitehaven has a senior laden team and that will make them very hard to beat come district tournament. Roosevelt Joy is a pass first point guard who can score in bunches if needed as he proved in an earlier game against Kirby. 6'4 Marcus Rucker, a star football player is a jumping jack who loves to slash and get the crowd hyped with his athletic dunks. Nick Ollie is a shooter( brother of former Tiger guard Nathen now at Rhodes) and Arthur Johnson provides post presence. This could finally be their year after coming close last year. Melrose is proving that they will be tough to beat only losing to Central by 1 at home. I hate to beat this with a drum but they are so young that you really don't know what you might get from them but it will be fun to watch. Courtney Pittman and quarterback Tramarcus Toney will both have to step up big if they want to overtake Central for the district title. Hamilton is really scuffling this year as many predicted in particular losing to the East Mustangs after being up by as many as 10 with 2 minutes remaining in the game. They have now lost 3 straight in district play and it won't get any easier for them as they take on Melrose and Whitehaven this week. They will really need stellar play from Nathen Garth, Justin Harris and Denario Robertson but they still have time to turn it around. Kingsbury could be the surprise of the district. Bobby Jones and Jamal Mosely are playing well and they could upset a few more teams at their gym using their size and athleticism as a team. Coach Ford's Bulldog's are a little down this year but don't count them out just yet. Derrick Mason is one of the better players in the district and little brother Nick has vastly improved from last year. The key to them maybe the play of Quentin Partee. This could be the most exciting season in this district in few years because all of the teams are so competitive
